My Journey through Romans 1:1-17

Do we ever take a spiritual notice or any notice at all that before he delivers his message, how Paul introduces himself? He states that he is “a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,”  This led me to the convicting question- what qualifies us to spread the gospel? Thank you Holy Spirit.

You can read about his journey of events that led to his conversion for him to make such an entitlement beginning in the book of Acts 7:54-59; Acts 8:1-3; and Acts 9:1-31. I really like this verse -Acts 9:22 -Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah.

With that being said, the first thing that came to my mind is an event that happens in most churches. Let me call it the Visiting Pastor/Speaker Introduction event. Is it just me that notices that most introductions consist of listing an educational and work resume which never or rarely mentions anything about their qualifications in Christ?

Word to the wise and unwise alike: When in the midst of church folk and possible converts it is best to keep your introduction short and to the truth like Paul.  Whether the pastor/speaker realizes it or not, the ‘all about my world’ introduction puts all the glory on self; it takes away from his/her message. This is just something I’ve noticed going on in various churches. Don’t hate!

There are three things that the Holy Spirit spoke to me about in this study.Ya ready?

The first thing that I have learned on this journey is to present yourself to God first.  Paul mentions this later in Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Knowing Paul’s/Saul’s history clearly shows that presenting yourself to God first both opens and closes many doors. Paul knew from his personal experience that he belonged to Jesus Christ. He knew that all of his accomplishments were not of his own doing, it was of the Lord. All glory should be given to our Creator and Savior. Amen.

The second thing I learned is twofold.  We should serve with our “spirit in the gospel of His Son” and as God as our witness (vs 9) because “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) How do we do this?

In two ways- In the OT we are told in Deuteronomy 10:12-13 “And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?” And in 2 Timothy 2:15-, we are instructed to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Who are you serving?

The third thing I learned is threefold.  We are to be ready to preach the gospel. We are NOT to be ashamed of the gospel of Christ and we must have faith. (vs. 15-17)  There is a reason that Paul tells us that the “just  shall live by faith.” Ahem! It is the righteousness of God revealed. Would your introductory resume reveal these three things to others as your accomplishments in Christ?

Roadside Rest Stop: It is imperative to know who we are in Jesus Christ before sharing the Gospel with and/or preaching to others. Be qualified to speak with the authority given to us by Jesus Christ. Let our experiences with God and the knowledge we have of God, not men be presented to others. Sometimes we only get to journey on the road to Damascus once. Once was all it took for Saul/Paul. We are living testimonies that the Lord our God will stop us dead in our journeys to put us on the right road.

Therefore beloved as a present day messenger of Christ, know ye this, we are debtor to all, “both wise and unwise” so be ready. Always remember who are you in Christ on any journey and

“Stop worrying about the potholes in the road and celebrate the journey.”                Fitzhugh Mullan

A Ready, Willing and Able Heart Requires A Building Up In Christ First- Exodus 35:5

Exodus 35:5 (KJV)~ Take ye from among you an offering unto the Lord: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the Lord; gold, and silver, and brass,

As I read this chapter, it occurred to me once more how the heart plays a big factor in decision making to do for the Lord as a Believer. I try to echo this in all my SheSpeaks4U Seminars 4 the Heart and Mind. Thank you Holy Spirit for giving me an additional understanding found specifically in this one verse about having a willing heart. I get it! Yeah!

Can I share something with you? Sure. I made a decision last November to try one of those Read the Bible In A Year plans received from a church that I visited. I never thought much of those plans because I felt it wasn’t spirit led. However, God proved otherwise and I am doing well with it. He is speaking to me through verses I’d never given a second thought to over the years. I do miss picking out what I want to read over and over. My four older bibles have been marked up pretty good and I hate typing notes on my IPAD using that bible app, it’s just not paper. I have a love for writing on paper.

So my daughter-in-law asked me what I wanted for Christmas last year, I told her that I wanted a medium size KJV bible, because I did not want to start writing in the 20 pound bible I inherited from my pawpaw. Lo and behold, she bought me one with a matching bible tote and faith diary to write in. In the bible she wrote “To my real mother…” Aww that made me shed tears. Not many DIL’s consider their mother-in-law much, other than a babysitter.  As I was following the yearly plan in Exodus, she came to mind and the many who are trying to build bigger churches with unwilling and unable people came to mind.  Thank you for your reading patience.

And now, let us move along to a heavy message that should heave the heart of those that claim to love God, but their heart is not stirred with the Spirit of God. You may get angry about this message, and that’s ok, just don’t wake up tomorrow with the anger still in your heart. (Ephesians 4:26 message coming soon to a WP blog near you) I assure you the message is neither from me nor the evil one.

The text in Exodus 35-36 and the Holy Spirit showed me several things about having A Ready, Willing and Able Heart:

  1. A willing heart does not give sacrificially nor give according to legalistic issues. (It’s all SPIRITUAL)
  2. A willing heart does not have to involve pecuniary giving. (Everyone is not financially able to give, irrespective of what is preached)
  3. A willing heart is flawed when one gives after receiving a brash call (usually from the pulpit) to do so.
  4. A willing heart automatically produces an overflow (clothing, food, and appliance donations to homeless shelters is a great example; when storms hits, people give what they have with a willing heart to rebuild and help others)
  5. A willing offering occurs when a person gives of their knowledge, time, understanding, wisdom, on-hand items, and their gifted abilities when their “heart is stirred up” to do something for the Lord. (These abilities show that one is filled with the Spirit of God.)

To sum it all up, the following verses should explain what the Holy Spirit led me to understand about giving to and doing for the Lord (You should read Exodus 35- 40, to get to the nucleus of it all):

Exodus 35:10-And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the Lord hath commanded;

Exodus 35:21– And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.

Exodus 35:29– The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the Lord, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the Lord had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.

Exodus 35:31– And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;

The Outcome of A Ready, Willing, And Able Heart is here: Exodus 36:5-7- And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the Lord commanded to make. And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing. For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.

Another thing beloved…The Holy Spirit just reminded me of this and the scripture. The glory of the Lord will fill those that have such a heart. I’m not saying you’ll be walking around with a shiny face like Moses had, but someone will notice His glory in you. Let us not forget that our bodies are also the Lord’s tabernacle. (TYHS) Exodus 40:34-Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

I was in the midst of a sermon preached that made my heart sick a while ago. The glory of the Lord was nowhere in the midst of that tabernacle. I love it when the Lord shows me when people are emitting twisted words while making demands on the body of Christ. There is a falsehood floating around in many small and even large churches about the “need” to build buildings costing millions upon millions of dollar to “house the people of God.” Quite a few people that I have come in contact with through my seminars believe this to be an ongoing negative issue within small churches. Lo, the Lord will handle the building of a building, whatever the cost, in His time. The focus does not need to be on a building; it needs to be on the heart and souls of those Believers who have lost their heart for Christ and for those who do not know Christ.

Why do people think a “new building will” automatically “change” a person into having a ready, willing, and able heart for God? Wisdom Speaks- A new atmosphere will not change the people of God that are dead set in their non-Christ-like behaviors and attitudes; those that have a return to Egypt lifestyle mindset, a stiff necked people. Remember the Israelites that were led by Moses?  I know of one church with about 150 members that sold their three million dollar building in order to purchase or build  a six million dollar building. Needless to say, that church lost quite a few members because of “greed from within and a relocation that caused life long family members to leave…” The church was “not experiencing any growth”… so I asked why would they sell and relocate. Their response blew me  away-“…pastors and leaders are always trying to build new churches and compete when they get tired of being in an older building….and then the prosperity sermons started…” This is a message to those that believe a “bigger and newer eye pleasing church will allow us to do more ministries to bring in more members.”  Strike 1, Strike 2, Strike 3 – You’re out.

God is watching every behavior and hearing every word that does not glorify Him concerning His tabernacle, i.e. your body. It’s not about doing more ministries, nor is it about “eye pleasing” others.  It’s about preparing those bodies inside the church to go outside of the church to spread the Gospel of Christ. It’s about preaching and teaching those in the body of Christ how to become a more ready, willing, and able member led by the heart that God has instilled His Spirit within.  Isn’t that what Jesus did with his disciples and other followers? We’re always running around here like a chicken with his neck broke claiming “Jesus is the head of my life” with an unrented, unwilling, and non-penitent heart toward others in the body of Christ. Negative behaviors of and toward those already in the body of Christ does not glorify God. That’s a sure sign of a heart attack taking  place in the body of Christ.

The Spirit of God has been beating me down for the last year (February 14, 2015) about getting this message out. Actually today is the anniversary date for me to share the entire message. Believers of Christ just can’t build a church on a rock when its members have not truthfully and wholly consecrated their heart to the Lord. You can’t squeeze blood from a turnip, unless it is the Lord’s will. It’s not always about building a structure made of steel, wood, plastic, and bricks. Again, our call is to build up one another first in Christ and by sharing the message of the Gospel of Christ outside of church walls. We are also called to work with the gifts the Lord imparted to our hearts for His church. No brash demand, eye pleasing service nor new building can glorify God with a people lacking a willing and stirred heart.(Missing in Action)

Let us ask ourselves as shepherds and sheep, did God ever abandon those that He gave a willing heart to build something for Him? Again, buildings (old or new) do not help people to come to Christ, nor does it improve the heart’s status. It is those members in the body of Christ that worship Him in spirit and truth filled with a willing heart from the Spirit of God that will lead people to Christ to do for Him. Remember the cleaning of the cup from the inside is what makes it clean?

Peradventure, the outcome that took place in Exodus 35:7 will happen, then a new building may be built because of the spiritual overflow.  We must start believing what Jesus said in John 4:23-24- But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth

Message Finale– You as a shepherd and/ or a sheep must spiritually have A Ready, Willing and Able Heart to build up and out for the Lord.  A stressed out congregation can not comprehend what it is to have a willing spirit. When the building up in Christ comes first, then comes the “stuff” you have will be “sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.”  (TYHS) Peace 2 you beloved.

Jesus Is The Chlorophyll That Gives The Christian A Characteristic Color- Holiness

Opening Thoughts- I was reading an Article of the Day from The Free Dictionary by Farlex on my cell as I wandered outside to look at my rose bushes I planted last September in honor of my “only” daughter’s thirtieth birthday. It’s a daily habit of reading to keep my brain alert, along with the Holy Bible to keep my mental and spiritual sense intact. And you know me, the Holy Spirit alerted me to write a blog about it. I held a few seminars several weeks ago titled Change Your Color for several church groups, and I am in awe by the Spirit of God sending me this colorful message on today. To Him, be the glory and honor. He has me thinking deep thoughts about light and its characteristic color- HOLINESS.  My holy roses absorbing light!  😛

So today’s article was about Chlorophyll. The Holy Spirit spoke to me as I was reading this- ‘Chlorophyll is a green pigment that gives most plants their color and enables them to carry out photosynthesis, the process through which plants get energy from light. Chlorophyll absorbs light in the red and blue-violet portions of the visible spectrum; the green portion is not absorbed and reflected, gives chlorophyll its characteristic green color. Only one animal has been found to use the chlorophyll it has eaten to perform photosynthesis itself. What is it?’ It’s not a chameleon.

As Children of God, let us ask ourselves- What is the process we must go through that will enable us to get energy from The Light? Using the wording in the article, I want to share with you the message received. (TYHS) Stay with me through the end here, ok? I know this is a long post; however it is a much needed post especially for those who are in darkness and those Children of God who have strayed somewhat from the light.

Here are six things shared with me by the Holy Spirit concerning the Christian process of photosynthesis:

  1. Know who formed light and the Light
Genesis 1: 1- 4– In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
Isaiah 45:5-7I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.
  2. Know who the Light is
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Matthew 3: 16-17– And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
  3. Know the purpose of the Light
1 Peter 2:9-10- 9 -But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Acts 26: 15-18– And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
John 12:45-46And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
  4. Know what can be found in the Light
John 14:6-Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
1 John 5: 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
John 1:1-4 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
  5. Know how to absorb the Light
Matthew 6:20-23– But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Joshua 1: 8 -This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
1Peter 3:18– But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
  6. Know who God hears
    John 9:31
    – Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

Closing Thoughts- Light brings life to ALL humans, plants, and animals. Without The Light , humans would be spiritually “blind as a bat” as the saying goes and experience stunted growth. Remember how God led His people to see where He was leading them? (TYHS) Meditate and let the Holy Spirit reveal to you why these verses are presented.

Exodus 13:21-22– And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

Isaiah 9:2 -The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Also, in Matthew 4:13-17– And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

I am by no means belittling our Savior when I say that He, Jesus is the chlorophyll (pigment per se) that gives the Christian light. The Light enables us to get energy/eternal life through Him. The Light has a characteristic color- HOLINESS. God said be ye Holy for I am Holy (Leviticus 11: 44 & 1 Peter 1:16)

Obedience to Government Leaders – Ecclesiastes 8

Thar she goes!

Thar she goes!

I’m afraid this is going to be my soapbox moment blog. I am not one to go top-over about how this country or any country is run. When reading this chapter last night, I became somewhat angry about the lack of love in obedience in this world from both Christians and Non-Christians alike. I have always been puzzled about people who are selected to represent a county, city, precinct, state, and country. Throughout the bible it is evident that whoever is elected to rule is not without sin; have prejudices; appear self-serving; ineffective communicators; make bad decisions; can’t consciously commit to a yea or nah; and are quick to bend instead of standing firm on issues biblically after they are sworn into office putting their hand on a Holy Bible of their choice. At least that is what goes on in America.   obama-sworn-in    What’s wrong with that picture? Everything! The problem…leaders have taken an oath on the Word of God and all of them have fallen short on adhering to that oath. Why then are we instructed to be obedient to our elected leaders? Take a look around, governments are being run by many people who seem to have no deep fear of God. Ok, kick me, but it is truth. Solomon says “Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God. mason handsignpope handsignsatanhandsignbush handsign clintonwifehandsignclinton-handsign

Another problem – most of us plain folk have no knowledge or care of what is going on in our own backyard, much less in the big Washington D.C. front yard unless it is about throwing up THE hand sign, somebody jumping the fence or fighting against sexual orientation and marriage issues. It is true that we cannot keep up with every law made or changed. You’d be amazed at some of the laws and cases available for you to read at a law library. OBSERVE. This is where wisdom comes in handy knowing what you need to know that affect your way of life according to God’s purpose. PRAY.

body of christ

Most of us don’t even want to admit that the church, which is the Body of Christ, is being ruled by and under some form of government as a non-profit agency, adhering to government non-profit rules, yet some churches are bringing in more money than a for profit agency and are the last to help those truly in need. How did that happen? There is biblical foundation for government rule( 1 Corinthians 12:28-kjv) if I understand this verse correctly. I need to do more research on the church being under subjection to man-made laws. Something is awry here, yet we are still to be in obedience to our government leaders???

Per Solomon- “I counsel thee to keep the king’s commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God. Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.  Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?  Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment. Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him…”

Here is the good news I’ve found in this chapter – “There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.” (TYHS) Let this be a remembrance to those who are in Christ and to those who make an oath to lead while laying their hands on the book that has the Word of God. Your job is to serve while leading.

Since we are to be obedient, we need to become wise in our voting choices. Stand against oppression. Let us give some serious thought here – Why is there always billions upon trillions of dollars available to fight wars and to keep others from entering into certain countries, yet illegal drugs and murderers get through? Why is there not enough government money to help other countries dig wells for clean water? Why do most panic when there is a government shut-down or hear-say of one? Why is there always a lack of money to help with unemployment, poverty, homelessness, elderly care, childcare, medical care, permanent job creations, war veterans, and basic needs to live?

Welfare is NOT the answer.

What is being done with the so-called money set aside to stop human trafficking and drug trafficking? When you look beneath the selected government leaders, you will find that we the people ARE the government. Come Lord Jesus. (Read John 16 for an uplifting message- Joy is coming)

When you see or hear about all these things going on, we who seek wisdom can agree with Solomon and say “Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.”

I imagine that discerning time and judgment are keys to unlocking disobedience from our hearts and mind to be in alignment with God’s purpose. God’s people need to pray for and choose leaders who want to work in alignment with His purpose. Throughout the Holy Bible, we are instructed to be obedient to our governing leaders.  Solomon’s writing always mentions the word “purpose.” That word carries a lot of power for any government and its leaders. God is the TRUE GOVERNMENT LEADER of this world and it is His purpose that matters. (TYHS)

Genesis 1

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

It’s Open Season For Spiritual Highway Robbery -Ecclesiastes 6

Ecclesiastes 6 – Read Here

Take a moment to read over the verses with the Spirit of God as your interpreter.  Keep in mind the following words:

highway robbery (n) : the practice of charging a price that is very high and usually unfair for something; syns.- fleecing, gouging, extortion, overcharging
Life Is a Highway (Tom Cochrane)- Partial Lyrics
Life’s like a road that you travel on
When there’s one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind
There’s no load I can’t hold
Road so rough this I know
I’ll be there when the light comes in
Tell ’em we’re survivors

There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men:

Solomon has given another deep insight on what is common among men. If we look deeper with a spiritual sense of things going on around us and in our lives, spiritual highway robbery is a good description. I’m going to take you even deeper. (TYHS) We are all on a spiritual highway. Some of us are content with driving like a raisin under the sun basking in our own glory. Some are  driving eagerly to get over the sun to bask in God’s glory. If most of us were to take a look back on the roads and paths we have driven, most of us would be able to pinpoint the times we have been robbed or robbed others spiritually under the sun.

As he mentioned there are “many things that increase vanity” which speaks volumes about where we place our priorities and stash our treasures along our highway.  Yes, we have this in common regardless of our race. Wherever these things are, there within lies an open season opportunity for a spiritual fleecing. Speaking of that, have any of you seen the old movie Open Season? It’s a neat movie. I’ve kept videos on hand for years for the grandkids visits since I don’t watch regular television programs. You may be able to watch it on youtube. Here is a summary of the movie.  Pay attention to the underlined words. 😛

In Sony Pictures Animation’s first feature film, the animated action adventure comedy Open Season, the odd are about to get even. Boog (Martin Lawrence), a domesticated grizzly bear with no survival skills, has his perfect world turned upside down when he meets Elliot (Ashton Kutcher) a scrawny, fast-talking mule deer. When Elliot convinces Boog to leave his cushy home in a park ranger’s garage to try a taste of the great outdoors, things quickly spiral out of control. Relocated to the forest with open season only three days away, Boog and Elliot must acclimate in a hurry. They must join forces to unite the woodland creatures and take the forest back!

When the grandkids and I finished watching the movie, we had the same thoughts.  Why do people feel the need to remove animals from their natural environment – cage and put them on display?  Why do zoo animals look sad? Why do some animals just lay there?  I often tell them that one day, God will put some of us back in our natural environment where there will be no need or want for neither animals nor humans to be caged.

Beloved, have you been spiritually robbed of your natural environment?  What high prices have you paid for the “wandering of the desire” to have this or that, to be here or there, to eat this or that, to build this or that? Thy Kingdom will come. Those who are worthy to live in the Kingdom of Heaven will be free indeed. Free to enjoy the riches, wealth, and honour that God gives and have no worries about a stranger in the midst to take it all away. Spiritual highway robbery will be passé.

Be encouraged my dear loves, that there is ONE who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun.(verse 12) There will be no more open seasons for spiritual highway robbery. All evil diseases will end and “That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.”(verse 10)  The key is for us all to become spiritually sober. (TYHS) Oh but Talkative One, how can we do this to avoid spiritual highway robbery?  One simple piece of advice here it is:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God” during this Open Season For Spiritual Highway Robbery “and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

I Love You

Knowing and Accepting Your Lot – Ecclesiastes 5:8-20

Lot-(n)- an object used as a counter in determining a question by chance : the use of lots as a means of deciding something: the resulting choice : something that comes to one upon whom a lot has fallen : (share): one’s way of life or worldly fate : (fortune)

********************************************

We as God’s children often times forget the many gifts He gives to us. I personally had never thought much of a LOT being a gift of God. Solomon confirmed it by his observations. The Holy Spirit stamped it in my heart just now on this great blessed New Years Eve. Wow! I am becoming wiser. 😛

It is a fact that “Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb, and as everyone comes, so they depart. They take nothing from their toil that they can carry in their hands.” (vs 15)

On a serious note, I wish that those who are hoarders of their riches (LOT) given to them by God, would stop thinking that they are going to take their riches with them when they die. I also wish that they would realize, whatever they have is a gift from God. God is a giving God that supply all of our needs. (Philippians 4:19-And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.)

Since we are made in His image, aren’t we suppose to be giving beings that do the same? After all, it is through some of us that the Spirit of God works in our heart to give to the less fortunate so that their needs are met. We are NOT taking anything with us in death. God even takes our soul from our bodies that He breathed into us. It belongs to Him when we die. All things belong to Him. This too is something we need to know and accept. It’s a – (dash ) period.

When death occurs it seems to be customary to put the date of birth – (dash) date of death on the marker for the deceased and/or to list it in an obituary. I’ve never heard an explanation for the -(dash) but what would you think if I said that -(dash) represented ‘one’s way of life or worldly fate’…the things that took place in between life and death? Yeah, their LOT. Hmmm, thinking too much again, I am. (TYHS)

“To eat, drink, and to find satisfaction” in our labor under the sun during our life is a LOT that God has given to all. We all share in that LOT… the -(dash) That is now one of my New Years resolutions after reading the scriptures…Knowing and Accepting My Lot for it is a gift from God. That will be my – (dash). I will choose to “seldom reflect on my life” because I will trust in what God gives me and be totally “occupied with gladness of heart.” Amen (TYHS)

And I close with verses 18-20:

This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot. Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God. They seldom reflect on the days of their life, because God keeps them occupied with gladness of heart.

I pray that all get to work in Knowing and Accepting Your Lot.

JOYFUL NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

Who Does God Say That He Is?

Great Saturday Afternoon ! I was listening to a sermon on line the other day while riding the train through Genesis again. I just seem to never get enough of reading Genesis. Every time I read it, I am excited about new spiritual messages received from God.  Ok, so the preacher was asking… “Who do you say that you are when you profess to be a believer?” He went on to say that “many inside the church do not know who they are in Christ…even so, after many years of attending church, there are some of you sitting here in these pews that don’t know who you are, nor do you know who God is.”  I thought wow, that’s a harsh and sad truth. Of course that got me to thinking about Who does God say that He is? Not, who do the people in the bible say that He is.  I decided to research. Boarding train…Toot! Toot!  smiley-welcome-train     Reflective Vocabulary Words

profess-1. To affirm openly; declare or claim: 2. To make a pretense of; pretend:

**************

I remember thinking back to a time (dinosaur age) when my Pawpaw was telling me about and teaching me how to read the Holy Bible. I remembered me asking him, how did God just poof out of nowhere in the beginning and the first part of the story doesn’t tell who He is, but it tells what He does and say. My smart and quick thinking Pawpaw said…”Little Question Mark, ( I don’t think he ever called me by my birth name) the way that you get to know anyone is usually by spending time with them to see what they do and say. King David said in the book of Psalms that The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Oh! the verses he quoted were from Psalms 19:1 and 14 which I found out later on.

You know, the Holy Spirit brings to remembrance who my Pawpaw was in Christ and who he was to me when I go through things he left me. As I have aged, I’ve come to know the answers to the many questions I used to ask him as a child, even those that I “change the subject” on.

Ok, so here is what I found about Who does God say that He is.  It wasn’t much written,. However, either through our experiences or through reading the Holy Bible, we know about what He has done, who others say that He is, and what He says He will do.

  • Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last
  • Exodus 3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
  • Exodus 34: 4 And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone. 5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

Have you ever heard the wind speak? I sing with joy, sing with me my loves(TYHS)…Said the night wind to the little lamb: Do you see what I see? ‘Way up in the sky, little lamb, Do you see what I see?  A star, a star  Dancing in the night,: With a tail as big as a kite. :  I see that God “proclaimed” that He is “The Lord, The Lord God”. He is not just God, but “The Lord, The Lord God.”  Do you see it?

  • He is Alpha and Omega (Rev 1:8;22:13
  • He is Mercy, Grace ,Patience, and Good(Exodus 34:6) See it!
  • He is Truth  (John 14
  • He is Light (John 12:42-48
  • He is The Door (John 10:7-10

Without prolonging this message, let me sum up what the Holy Spirit has shared with me. I have NO doubt about Who God says that He is.  Remember in Genesis where He says “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness…?” I profess that He is the Lord God. He is Jesus. He is the Holy Spirit.  He is also our Heavenly Father(Matthew 5:45;48).

The book of John is one of many informative books in the Holy Bible listing the many words of Jesus. Please read or reread until the Spirit shows you Who God says He is and not what His characteristics are. I know, it’s hard to separate the two.  All we have to ever do is go back to the beginning to know who God is because He never changes. My darlings, three words… “In the Beginning”,  say a lot more to us than some of us know or think. (TYHS)

Do you know Who Does God say that He Is?

Are You Conscientious About the Presence Of God in Your Life?

Please read Exodus 32- 34. I’ve been studying the Books of Exodus and Genesis once again over the last month or so. I had and still have so many questions proliferating within my cranium and heart. I’m positive that when God is ready to reveal more to me, He will in His time. He loves talking to me and I love talking with Him. His strong suit is dealing with the hard headed, talkative, and inquisitive ones. Lately, He has been revealing a lot to me about people wearing veils in His presence.

As a child I use to envy the people in the bible who were in God’s presence and those who spoke directly with him. I did not understand how or why people would behave so badly by worshipping other gods or possessing a less than righteous behavior when they knew God was right there, like next door, face to face, back to face, etc.  He was there in the Garden of Eden speaking directly to and with Adam, Eve, and the Serpent. He spoke to and with Cain, Noah, Abram, Job, Moses, to name a few. Even Enoch “walked with God.”

Judging from the biblical events I’ve read, I’ve concluded two things about God’s Presence. Some of the beings in the bible were somewhat conscientious and some were wholly conscientious about His presence in their lives. And yet…the majority of beings were not perfect but found ______ in His sight. (Fill in the blank)

In Genesis 4:26, it says that Seth (the appointed seed instead of Abel, who Cain slew-vs.25), to him was born a son named Enos and it was at this time “then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.” (AKJV) Truly amazing!  Let’s call!

Here is where we skedaddle on to Exodus 33: 1-22. No Veils Allowed!   First some key pointers and definitions:

  • With – used as a function word to indicate a participant in an action, transaction, or arrangement; in opposition to.
  • God told Moses to “Depart, and go up hence”(away; from this place) Notice how he said it twice using different words…(Get= go up; Skeedaddle= depart)   😛
  • God told Moses that He would not be in their “midst” (the interior or central part of a point) because “thou are a stiffnecked people.”
  • The stiffneckers believed God’s message via Moses to them to be “evil tidings.”(news) They mourned.
  • Consume- to do away with completely; destroy
  • Dung- Used as manure (Luke 13:8); collected outside the city walls (Nehemiah 2:13). Of sacrifices, burned outside the camp (Exodus 29:14; Leviticus 4:11; 8:17; Numbers 19:5). To be “cast out as dung,” a figurative expression (1 Kings 14:10; 2 Kings 9:37; Jeremiah 8:2; Psalms 18:42), meaning to be rejected as unprofitable. Note- you’ll understand why this was used below.- Courtesy of Easton’s Bible Dictionary

I love Moses, for he pleaded his case for his people to God. He reminds God, that these are His people too.  I also love it when God is direct and communicates effectively.  What would you do if God told you to depart? What would you do knowing He is waiting to make a decision based on your “stiffnecked” behaviors? How would you feel if He told you that He would not be in your presence or “midst”?  How would you feel if He told you, ok, I’ve definitely decided I am going to “consume thee”?

It seemed that God had become fed up with the Israelites and their she-nanigans and he-nanigans, and decided to just send them on their way, while keeping His promise to Abraham.

People have forgotten how to communicate with each other to eliminate division amongst the body of Christ and to eliminate the stench of ignorance floating around in homes, businesses, and churches. I have learned from my inquiries and from an observance of everyday life, we as people and as Christians are lacking more and more in patience and communication with each other. We have begun to ignore each other more because of feelings, one tracked minds and hearsay.

Who are we?  A “stiffnecked people” who quite often forget whose presence we are in which is why we behave the way we do WITH one another.  We can’t seem to talk to each other one on one anymore. That allows 1 of the top 5 sins from my List to grow and cause more division among us on our jobs with co-workers, in church with our members who claim to be on one accord with Christ, and in our homes with family, we so dearly claim to love. I have penned it as Micro-Managed Gossip or MMC if you prefer.

Personally I don’t have a problem with any person approaching me if they have an issue with me, for I realize I am not perfect but in the works of being about my Father God’s business. I am not easily hurt by any person’s words or thoughts.  Let me tell you beloved, when you keep going through fires, being tested and overcome test after test, you are on a whole other level that people not in His presence don’t understand. Job’s friends didn’t understand him. Thank you Holy Spirit!

FACT- Unless one is reprimanded and convicted by the Spirit of God, one does not really pay attention to being in His presence.

If I am correct in my study, after being reprimanded by God, the Israelites temporarily paid attention to His presence. Throughout the bible, they were a backsliding people, forgetting whose presence they were in, until warned again and again.  Well, hit me with a hammer! Isn’t this the same thing we do to this very day? Exodus 33:7… And it came to pass, that every one which sought the Lord went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation. Before this, what were they doing? You guessed it! They were line dancing, boot scooting, and worshipping false gods all the while, while in His camp.

We need to be more aware of our presence with others mainly in a body of Christ setting or within His camp.  Ask self…How can I put and keep myself in God’s presence?  What does it take for me as an individual to be conscientious about the presence of God in my life? Do I realize I am in God’s presence when I avoid speaking to or greeting others while in His house, aka church, at work, or with family?

The Ashtoreth poles, i.e. some individuals, need to be removed from church pews and pulpits. A limbless tree trunk without roots have no use but of that to be burned to ashes. Of all places, nowadays, with so many claiming to be Christians, the devil should not have to be rebuked inside the church. I guess he will get in where he feels he can fit in though. His days are definitely numbered.  “Dung” belongs outside of the church, not inside.

In the bible “dung” is referred to as being unclean, evil, falsity, a nakedness fully clothed and styled with a stench…you know….NOT CHRISTLIKE.

The spiritual gift of seeing through others is a beautiful gift when you know you have planks as well being removed.

Spend time with God alone and just focus on Him. Do as the Israelites did. Seek Him. You are not perfect. You’ll stumble quite often, but you have to get back up and go hence. Beloved, find out what will distinguish you “as His people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”- (Ex 33:16) He will bring Himself into your presence. I know this to be so true, along with some witnesses.

  • Be very aware that God knows you by name out of zillions of names.
  • Be very aware that it is God who finds the ultimate grace in His sight, not men, friends or foes.
  • If you are chosen to do His will, ask God to show you His ways, so that you too may “know thee” and partake of His glory.
  • Ask God for forgiveness, plead your case before Him, not just for you but for others so that you all will find grace in His sight and know it.
  • Be determined, be prepared, and be expecting God to do something. This, in my opinion is called having FAITH.

Moses was determined to move God’s people from bondage. He prepared himself with the help of God to do God’s will.  He expected God to do something, when they came to the Red Sea; when they were left wandering for 40 years; when he came face to face with God. Go ahead and SHOUT!  Expecting God to do something?…PAUSE…. Ok, that’ enough shouting Hallelujahs! After all, He did decide and told Moses. “My presence shall go with thee and I will give thee rest.”

Moses asked Him to show him His Glory. God did, did He not?

Ask Him to show you His Glory. He will. He will communicate with you one on one. If your heart is not hardened, it will help you communicate better with others and help you be more about our Father God’s business and status instead of your own business and status.

Let’s close it. I am very conscientious about His presence in my life and how He has placed others in my presence this past year…definitely these past three months. Others…that believe in Him who are relying on His promise that we will on one day be glorified and be face to face with Him. But first, beloved you should practice being more conscientious about His presence.

As of this moment, are you conscientious about His presence being in your work life, in your church, and in your home? If not, remember what He told Moses (Exodus 34:20)…. “And none shall appear before me empty.” Remove the veil when you are in His presence.

LOVE COVERS A MULTITUDE OF SINS

The ONE Commonality within the Human Race

Great Saturday to you! It started out as a great morning in His word and will end as a great night, because my God loves me, regardless. Today’s thoughts and blog title jumped out from the book of Romans early morn. Yeah! Yeah! Rah! Rah! Praise God! I’ve been meditating and praying for several months now to get a better understanding of when the Holy Spirit works within me making me more aware and wise concerning ALL things and ALL people that I am around and those I communicate with. With that being said, it brought to remembrance a quote made by Henry Varley in a book I read titled Moody: A Biography by John Pollock .

Henry Varley ~ “The world has yet to see what God will do with a man who is fully and wholly consecrated to the Holy Spirit.”

Bishop C. Mason. Inquisitive me!!!….I took to the net and lookie what I found.  Per Wiki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Harrison_Mason I began reading about him and pulled these two quotes concerning The Holy Spirit.

“The Spirit came upon the saints and upon me…Then I gave up for the Lord to have His way within me. So there came a wave of Glory into me and all of my being was filled with the Glory of the Lord.”

“So when He had gotten me straight on my feet, there came a light which enveloped my entire being above the brightness of the sun. When I opened my mouth to say Glory, a flame touched my tongue which ran down me. My language changed and no word could I speak in my own tongue. Oh! I was filled with the Glory of the Lord. My soul was then satisfied.”

There is a reason for the above quotes at the end of this blog, I think. Now we shall move on to our subject at hand.  The One Commonality…Paul states it best in Romans 3:22-23 (KJV)

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

I repeat……….The One Commonality within the Human Race is that we…
“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

You know what this means, right? I am no better than you. You are no better than me. We are no better than the next person. Regardless of race, age, choice of religion, the house we live in, the car(s) and carts we own or drive, worldly titles and positions we hold, the truth Paul stated by far outweighs the dissimilarities of the human race. This is a very humbling statement.

Who better to relay this truth to us ALL than the Apostle Paul? Saul of Tarsus, a Jewish man also with Roman citizenship that persecuted and killed Christians without batting an eye. He tried diligently to destroy the Christian church. Lo and behold on a road to Damascus, he was made blind by the will of God, heard the voice of Jesus and obeyed, converted and later began using the Latin form of his name Paul. Of course you can read about it in the Book of Acts. (Side note, most Jews had two names in the form of Hebrew and Latin or Greek. Amazing eh? As they say Reading is Fundamental….you can learn a lot from reading just about anything.)

Get this! Paul presented the evidence before stating the truth that we have all sinned and come short. It has become the norm for most of the human race to present a statement then back it up with the evidence that it is the truth. For example, one might say “The earth is square. I shall prove it from the research I’ve gathered.” Just from reading Paul’s word, I’ve always seen a slight similarity between us. Such is life for a backwards writer and that of a humble speaker who will yell out loud if need be to make a point.

The Evidence – In Romans 1- 3:1- 21. Please read at your leisure! I am going to just present some of his truer points about the human race that he was “obligated” to speak to “other Gentiles, Greeks and Barbarians, both to the wise and unwise, and Jews.”

• Human beings suppress the truth by their wickedness
 • Humans are filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
 • Humans are “backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
After proving several points we move into Chapter 3: 9- What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;  Paul makes that statement before quoting the Old Testament in Romans 3:11-18. (Please read) My belief is that he proves to them in those verses that sin operates at innumerable levels within the human race, and that arrogance makes one unable to detect the truth about sin.

Sin is like a chain that enslaves and restricts us. (Oh! Jesus! Thank you Holy Spirit for that deep insight! ) Nowadays, we even dress sin up and hide it behind the words – freedom and rights, and call it something else believing that God will not judge us for it. I won’t go into detail there, just take a look at the things going on in the world today by biblical standards that are indeed sin. Yup! We’re all in the same boat. Some of us are trying our darndest to get off the boat and swim to a Godly shore, plant ourselves, nourish and grow in the word of God, and take on a strong root in Christ. We will get there and at that time we will overcome.

We can carry out this plan with the help of the Holy Spirit teaching, moving, and guiding us to do God’s will in our lives. The reason I posted the Holy Spirit quotes is because I believe the Holy Spirit to be a manifestation of God and His Glory within us, and when we submit to Him from the heart, we are able to fight against sin, we get a glimpse of and can feel His presence; therefore seeking honor, glory, immortality and to have life eternal with our Heavenly Father in the place Jesus has prepared for us. We need to remember that He is our Helper; that He can help us in many ways to stop coming up short of the Glory of God. ~Romans 2:7 -To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
J.R. Miller said “It is a great deal easier to do that which God gives us to do, no matter how hard it is, than to face the responsibilities of not doing it.” I have been IN AWE and HUMBLED while studying these three chapters this morning, and Gasp! Lord have mercy, now it’s almost 7PM…..God really loves me. God really loves you. God really loves us ALL. Still the fact remains that we all have this one Commonality within the Human Race……“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” And for that reason my love bird’s we shall all be judged by Him…“For there is no respect of persons with God.” (Rom 2: 11)
