My Journey through Romans 1:18-32

On this leg of my journey I was given a very clear picture of who holds the truth period.  We are given a very clear understanding of ungodliness and unrighteousness and of those who hold the truth in unrighteousness in these verses.  It is also clearer to me that the reason the world is spiraling more out of control with the gay pride, x and y chromosome identity falsalations( a new word), people with low self- esteem revealing their bodies to the public to gain attention, people lying to keep their wrongdoings on the low, people preaching about godliness, yet living an ungodly life, church folk stabbing other church folk in the back, and people riding the immorality train thinking its a joy ride journey into God’s kingdom,(TYHS for that thought) etc. etc.  ((((JESUS))))

Those are some serious creeping things attacking the body of Christ, His church, His people. It’s what Paul said, people “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.” (vs. 22-23)   It  is all about  I-m-m-o-r-a-l-I-t-y – an I condition of the heart and mind that is fighting desperately to take over the unification of the body of Christ. That’s my new definition. 🙂 We are too consumed with “what’s in it for me” instead of what’s in it for God.

Perhaps the problem is that a lot of us fail to understand the meaning of ungodliness and unrighteousness.  The top line truth is that a lot of us continue to have no fear of God. Let’s review spiritual definitions from various events that took place in the bible:

Ungodliness – an act of us rejecting God and our duties to God.
Unrighteousness- an act of us rejecting our duty to each other

Let me ask two questions- Is Satan moral? Do we as Believers/Christians understand what holding the truth in unrighteousness means? Two things came to mind: (1) Our heart and mind is similar to that of our Israelite ancestors, stiff-necks and hardened hearts. Some of us have become impatient with God coming down from His holy mountain, like the Israelite’s grew impatient with waiting on Moses. (2) Our refusal to obey the truth that is found in God’s commandments and in the Gospel of Jesus Christ gives way to immorality, i.e. ungodliness.

And it is because of the following ongoing moral issues (listed by Paul) that even today we are experiencing the wrath of God and many have been given “up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves”; (vs 28) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

We need to be reminded that many created in the image of God continue to have:

  • changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator
  • vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: (having sex with animals, sex changes, women using paraphernalia that resemble a man’s private parts and using it with other women- TRUTH) And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly (inappropriate-immoral), and receiving in themselves that recompense (reward) of their error which was meet.
  • become filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
  • behaved as backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

This is very unbearable to me, I can only imagine how God feels that we -the very image of God, we -that have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we -who lie down and wake up because of God’s love and mercy for us, that we suppress the truth by our acts of unrighteousness. I’ve come to believe while on this journey that oppression exists because of us suppressing the TRUTH.  Paul did such a heart wrenching job of reminding me in this chapter that even “church discipline” laws in many churches have been given over to the laws of man, not of God.

stop herePLEASE.

May the Lord help us remove the scales from our eyes, the stiffness from our necks and the hardness from our hearts. Father, we repent of our sins.  I ask you Father in heaven to strengthen us to fight against the many battles of immorality living out its dream across this planet. I pray for our government and its leaders. I pray for those who have not come to know Jesus as their savior. I pray for those that have fallen under the curse of immorality, the schemes of the devil.  Remove us from the punishment of having reprobate minds. Father, if we proclaim to know you, then those who are in you clearly have no excuse for living an ungodly and unrighteous life. I beseech you Father, please forgive us in Jesus name.  This is my heartfelt prayer for all, Lord hear it. Amen.

Nakedness- Be Aware of Your Sin(s) Amos 1-4

Please read Amos 1-4 or perhaps a commentary. Word Up! It is best to read it for self to grasp what the Holy Spirit wants you to see. Remember, these are my thoughts in spending time with the Holy Spirit of God. I would also encourage you to read Hebrews 3.

This is my first encounter with studying (not just reading) the Book of Amos. My study began on 3/14/14 with prayer to have mercy on me and show me the message I needed to heed. Of course, the repeated theme of “for three sins, even for four” was sort of annoying to read at first. First thing I noticed is that the Lord was not slack in showing the nakedness of the people of Israel.  Can you imagine being pulled aside by someone and them reminding you all the wrong you have done?  My thought- It is a rather convicting book. It shows just how Sovereign the Lord is and it taught me about the benefits of rebuke, correction, and being fully aware of my sins…something a lot of Christians, both shepherds and sheep, shy away from when dealing with self and others. Most importantly, it taught me more about Hope. Hebrew 3:6But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.

If you are not aware of your sin(s), how can you correct them? I found that an answer lies within the Book of Amos. (TYHS!!!) I Love You.

Key Points Received

Amos 1-2

We will all be judged by God. Each and every one of us will be stripped naked. Amos 2:16-And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord.  It is clear in these chapters that God reminds the people of Israel and us that He is always watching us. He has the sole right to remind us and judge us of our sins against Him.

I prayed on this day that the Lord would show me the nakedness of those at the workplace, church, people, and myself in the coming days. I continued in daily prayer for Him to remove me from the workplace. I prayed that He would break me down to pieces and raise me up in His Glory. Hallelujah! There isn’t anything like being made fully aware of His Sovereignty and being convicted by God. And I’ll leave it at that. Something we should remember “for three sins, even for four.” Be aware folks!

Amos 3

We Christians, who share in the heavenly calling, are a chosen people just as the Israelites were. We are just as guilty of our sins against God. There were seven questions the Lord asked Israel, that I found intriguing for us to ponder today.   Amos 3:3-6(KJV)

  • Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
  • Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey?
  • Will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?
  • Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him?
  • Shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
  • Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid?
  • Shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?

Amos 4

We have a tendency to forget what the Lord has done for us. Too many times we are skydiving off into our own desires thinking we’re on top of the world and wishing for more for ourselves, our businesses, churches, and families. We suffer from a disorder called I did this when we feel we are responsible for our success. Just like the Israelites, we rarely think about being favored and blessed by God. We people, you and I forget where to return sometimes; where our Hope is rooted and from whence all things come. (Psalm 121)

The Lord reminded Israel of their past sins and Who their HOPE comes from. Hear this beloved!-(vs 11-13) I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord. Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The Lord, The God of hosts, is his name.

Through Amos in these first 4 chapters, God was making them aware of their sins, against Him. They were reminded of their history with God, going back and forth. They had been back and forth “from the pit to the palace” and from the palace to the pit. However, beloved darlings, if you remember nothing else about the book of Amos, please remember this. Be aware of your sin(s) and Know that there is HOPE in God. The day is upon us when there will be no back and forth between the pit and the palace. We will become lifetime inhabitants of The Palace aka The Kingdom of God.

Be aware of your sins and be very careful how you treat others. Don’t let others keep throwing up your past. They are not God ordained judges.Your nakedness will be revealed at some point and time by God, so “prepare to meet thy God…”

Ezekiel 16:36-37– Thus saith the Lord God; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them; Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.

“Identity would seem to be the garment with which one covers the nakedness of the self, in which case, it is best that the garment be loose, a little like the robes of the desert, through which one’s nakedness can always be felt, and, sometimes, discerned.” – James Arthur Baldwin

“Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting. Not in entire forgetfulness, and not in utter nakedness, but trailing clouds of glory do we come.” – William Wordsworth

The ONE Commonality within the Human Race

Great Saturday to you! It started out as a great morning in His word and will end as a great night, because my God loves me, regardless. Today’s thoughts and blog title jumped out from the book of Romans early morn. Yeah! Yeah! Rah! Rah! Praise God! I’ve been meditating and praying for several months now to get a better understanding of when the Holy Spirit works within me making me more aware and wise concerning ALL things and ALL people that I am around and those I communicate with. With that being said, it brought to remembrance a quote made by Henry Varley in a book I read titled Moody: A Biography by John Pollock .

Henry Varley ~ “The world has yet to see what God will do with a man who is fully and wholly consecrated to the Holy Spirit.”

Bishop C. Mason. Inquisitive me!!!….I took to the net and lookie what I found.  Per Wiki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Harrison_Mason I began reading about him and pulled these two quotes concerning The Holy Spirit.

“The Spirit came upon the saints and upon me…Then I gave up for the Lord to have His way within me. So there came a wave of Glory into me and all of my being was filled with the Glory of the Lord.”

“So when He had gotten me straight on my feet, there came a light which enveloped my entire being above the brightness of the sun. When I opened my mouth to say Glory, a flame touched my tongue which ran down me. My language changed and no word could I speak in my own tongue. Oh! I was filled with the Glory of the Lord. My soul was then satisfied.”

There is a reason for the above quotes at the end of this blog, I think. Now we shall move on to our subject at hand.  The One Commonality…Paul states it best in Romans 3:22-23 (KJV)

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

I repeat……….The One Commonality within the Human Race is that we…
“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

You know what this means, right? I am no better than you. You are no better than me. We are no better than the next person. Regardless of race, age, choice of religion, the house we live in, the car(s) and carts we own or drive, worldly titles and positions we hold, the truth Paul stated by far outweighs the dissimilarities of the human race. This is a very humbling statement.

Who better to relay this truth to us ALL than the Apostle Paul? Saul of Tarsus, a Jewish man also with Roman citizenship that persecuted and killed Christians without batting an eye. He tried diligently to destroy the Christian church. Lo and behold on a road to Damascus, he was made blind by the will of God, heard the voice of Jesus and obeyed, converted and later began using the Latin form of his name Paul. Of course you can read about it in the Book of Acts. (Side note, most Jews had two names in the form of Hebrew and Latin or Greek. Amazing eh? As they say Reading is Fundamental….you can learn a lot from reading just about anything.)

Get this! Paul presented the evidence before stating the truth that we have all sinned and come short. It has become the norm for most of the human race to present a statement then back it up with the evidence that it is the truth. For example, one might say “The earth is square. I shall prove it from the research I’ve gathered.” Just from reading Paul’s word, I’ve always seen a slight similarity between us. Such is life for a backwards writer and that of a humble speaker who will yell out loud if need be to make a point.

The Evidence – In Romans 1- 3:1- 21. Please read at your leisure! I am going to just present some of his truer points about the human race that he was “obligated” to speak to “other Gentiles, Greeks and Barbarians, both to the wise and unwise, and Jews.”

• Human beings suppress the truth by their wickedness
 • Humans are filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
 • Humans are “backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
After proving several points we move into Chapter 3: 9- What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;  Paul makes that statement before quoting the Old Testament in Romans 3:11-18. (Please read) My belief is that he proves to them in those verses that sin operates at innumerable levels within the human race, and that arrogance makes one unable to detect the truth about sin.

Sin is like a chain that enslaves and restricts us. (Oh! Jesus! Thank you Holy Spirit for that deep insight! ) Nowadays, we even dress sin up and hide it behind the words – freedom and rights, and call it something else believing that God will not judge us for it. I won’t go into detail there, just take a look at the things going on in the world today by biblical standards that are indeed sin. Yup! We’re all in the same boat. Some of us are trying our darndest to get off the boat and swim to a Godly shore, plant ourselves, nourish and grow in the word of God, and take on a strong root in Christ. We will get there and at that time we will overcome.

We can carry out this plan with the help of the Holy Spirit teaching, moving, and guiding us to do God’s will in our lives. The reason I posted the Holy Spirit quotes is because I believe the Holy Spirit to be a manifestation of God and His Glory within us, and when we submit to Him from the heart, we are able to fight against sin, we get a glimpse of and can feel His presence; therefore seeking honor, glory, immortality and to have life eternal with our Heavenly Father in the place Jesus has prepared for us. We need to remember that He is our Helper; that He can help us in many ways to stop coming up short of the Glory of God. ~Romans 2:7 -To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
J.R. Miller said “It is a great deal easier to do that which God gives us to do, no matter how hard it is, than to face the responsibilities of not doing it.” I have been IN AWE and HUMBLED while studying these three chapters this morning, and Gasp! Lord have mercy, now it’s almost 7PM…..God really loves me. God really loves you. God really loves us ALL. Still the fact remains that we all have this one Commonality within the Human Race……“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” And for that reason my love bird’s we shall all be judged by Him…“For there is no respect of persons with God.” (Rom 2: 11)

Live For God Because He Lives For You

Happy September 1st to all!   On tomorrow, September 2nd if my Papaw were still alive on this earth today, he would be 106 years old tomorrow. I miss him so much. cRYING sMILEY  Tissue time!!!!!

However, I do have peace whereas Papaw is concerned because I know he lived for God while on this earth through his faith, his words, and his actions. I am so blessed to be sharing my thoughts with you from my time with God and Papaw in spirit this morning while reading from 1 Peter 4:1-11.

Let’s meditate and ask ourselves…Self how do you know that God lives for you?  As for me, my answers are simple and faithfully believed in by His words and actions. Let me share them with you. 😛

  • I was given life by Him and I am made in His image. (Genesis 1:26, Genesis 2:7)
  • Not to mention, He grew weary of sending messages through others, so much so that He sent Himself in the flesh to live with me(Isaiah 9:6, Matthew 1:20-22, 1 Timothy 3:16, and Colossians 1:9) Side note to self, I need to practice more of face to face reconciliation with God so that my sins are revealed directly to me.
  • He suffered and died for my sins when He was sinless, so that I might have life everlasting to live with Him eternally in the same place that He lives and have prepared just for me for He is a living God.( John 10:27-30,Luke 20:37-38, 1Peter 3:18 and POW- John 14:1-3… This is the Knockout Punch –Revelation 21:3-4 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”)

Now that’s some powerful stuff I was led to meditate on this morning, while spending time alone with God and thinking about my Papaw. TYHS!

I’m going to post the scriptures here from 1 Peter 4, so that you do not have to jump back and forth from your bible. Enjoy this meal!

1 Peter   4
New King   James Version (NKJV)
Therefore,   since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same   mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that   he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the   lusts of men, but for the will of God. For we have spent   enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked   in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable   idolatries. In regard to these, they think it strange that   you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking   evil of you. They will give an account to Him who is   ready to judge the living and the dead. For this reason the   gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged   according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

But   the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.   And above all things have fervent love for one another, for   “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable   to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received   a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of   God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles   of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which   God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ,   to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Peter made some great points about SIN in verses 1-6. How can I put this in kindergarten terms? If you continue to live in Sin, you will not live with God, nor are you living for Him. To my beloved ones who are reading this, know this ONE fact about SIN and think about how you have not lived for God.  In order for us to personally overcome SIN, we need to acknowledge, accept rebuke, and repent of those sins and be obedient to the will of God in the name of Jesus Christ. Right?  My thoughts are definitely from my experience with SIN. Using Peter’s verses, I’ll sum up the ONE fact I’ve come to believe in 6 words:

SIN IS A WASTE OF TIME (Verse 3)

Peter also made it CLEAR to us that there is ONE thing we can do to live for God. Do you know what it is? Huh, do ya do ya?  My beloved ones, if you have studied the Holy Bible, then you know that it has NEVER been kept as a secret from us within the books of Genesis through Revelation.

Proof 101- Luke 24:27  And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

ARM YOURSELVES ALSO WITH THE SAME MIND AS CHRIST(Verse 1)

Let us first take a look at this word:

ARM -intransitive verb: to prepare oneself for struggle or resistance.

In verses 7-11 tells us just how to arm ourselves:

  • Be serious and watchful in our prayers. Jesus tells us to do such in Luke 22:40- When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
  • Have FERVENT love for one another, not just love. That means to love from the heart and soul. Warning!!!!! If you can’t love fervently you have been disarmed by Satan.
  • Be hospitable to others and ditch the argumentative stage and back biting.
  • Use the gift God gave you to minister to others that you come in contact with. It is my opinion that even a genuine smile towards another can be a blessing to others.
  • Speak as Jesus spoke when He spoke about the Kingdom of God. Speak up the truth to all that you have conversations with. Yeah or Nay, no maybe.
  • God has got your back and front and will be (not should be) glorified in all things that you do through and in the name of Jesus Christ. He is ARMED, and so you should be too.

Allow me to throw in one more bible verse.

Galatians 2:20(NKJV)

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

With that being noted, I shall end my post with this thought for you to think seriously about: Since we were made in His image, why is it so hard for us to know His will? Think about it and start Living For God by letting Him live in you BECAUSE He Lives For You.

I LOVE YOU

The Power of Hatred- Another History Lesson

From the History Channel

Wow!  While I was working on another study this morning about King Asa, I was listening to the History Channel documentary: Ku Klux Klan: A Secret History.

Let us remember that NOTHING is a secret to the Lord. We have so much to learn from history and how to change our thoughts and actions. Funny I should be watching this; for the next few months of my studies I am going to be sharing with you, is about my learning from the past actions of the kings of Judah and Israel.

You may watch the documentary here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CM7Fq4AFyIM

While the USA focuses on terrorists from other countries, please pray that they do not forget and lose focus on the “oldest USA terrorist organization… the ku klux klan.”

“It wrapped itself in the sacred cloth of Christianity and the American flag.”– Gasp!

As a child, when told about racial hatred from this group, I use to tell my papaw that those people must read another bible and follow another Jesus, because it wasn’t the Jesus in the bible he was teaching me about in our bible. His response to me, I remember clearly, “no man is perfect and he can’t think right when he is controlled by satan.”

The reminder to others in this video documentary, is although you may like to “forget it as Amercians ….we should not forget their history” because now they are unmasked and still claiming the Power of Hatred in the name of Jesus. This show reminds us that the reason their power of hatred escalated against Catholics, Jews, & Blacks  were because “they were able to operate outside the law because in many communities it’s members were the law”.

These people could be your neighbors, your family members, your employers, your government leaders and officials, your physicians, and even your church leaders.  Let the truth be known, we do not know others as well as we think we know them.

Therefore, we should always be in prayer against the sin of racial hatred and it’s power that still exist in America as well in prayer for Israel. Hatred is the reason WAR continues to exist.  We as Americans hide this sin so well from ourselves and from other countries.  In Love- There IS NO HATRED, for the bible tells us GOD IS LOVE.  It’s simple to me.

1 John 4:8(NKJV) He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

I’ve always believed that the weak minded and heartless people are the ones who like to form and join groups to belong to something to have a backbone. It’s amazing to me that people can still be misled by the false teachings from others about the true message of Jesus Christ.

However, the Good News to me is in Jesus Christ. I rest in knowing that their day will come, all those who speak and act with hatred in the name of Jesus Christ.  It will be settled when Christ returns. What a glorious day that will be in the name of Jesus. There is but ONE LORD over us all. We were made in His image and should behave as such. This we better believe and know without a doubt upon His return.  Amen.

Countenance-Your Appearance In God’s Eyes-My Thoughts

As I opened by bible today for a brief break earlier while at work, the pages fell open to Genesis 4. I began reading and boing! I was reading something I really had paid little attention to in the past.
Chapter 4 discusses the seeding of Cain and Abel, and momentous events in their lives. Later on in the chapter it mentions the seeding of Seth. We know the story, Abel became a keeper of flocks and Cain worked the soil. They both brought offerings to the Lord. Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil and Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The story goes on to state that the Lord looked with favor upon Abel and his offering, but had no favor upon Cain and his offering. Why? I asked self as I have done many times before when reading this chapter. I arrived at a conclusion  a while back, that my answer and God’s favor hid in the wording that I have bolded above.
Ages ago, I use to catch an attitude about God’s actions when reading this because I was thinking, how could God not show favor to Cain ?..…he gave an offering from things he grew in the soil, but most importantly he gave to God. We all know gardening is not a simple task and most of us put our heart into it. However……..Thank you Holy Spirit for providing the understanding through the years.

Cain just brought some and appeared to have given little thought about whether it was the FIRST fruit or last to give to God. Abel gave some of his FIRST born flock.  Non acceptance from God of Cain’s offering led Cain to become angry and his face became downcast. I thought his behavior normal, because as humans that is our behavioral  pattern when rejected, misled, disappointed and shown no favor when we think ,(not taking into account what the receiver may think )we’ve done well by our actions.
Before I go any further, let’s scan over the words below.

  • Angry- cross, annoyed, irritated, irate, mad, livid
  • Downcast- sad, depressed, disappointed, discouraged, disheartened
  • Countenance-n- appearance, especially the look or expression of the face
  • Sin-n- transgression of divine law; any reprehensible or regrettable action, behavior, lapse, etc.; great fault or offense

The new lighting I found after removing the lamp shade is in the verses below:

New Lighting
Genesis 4:6-7
Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
There’s my “boing”!  Did you see it? I have always loved how God asks a question and then gives an answer. How did I ever miss that God said “sin is crouching at your door”? Pull out your bibles and read the rest of the story in Genesis 4. We will discover within this chapter that Cain eventually, did not rule over that “crouching” sin, he was cursed by God and became a “restless wanderer”.
The other thing I want to make note of is how our countenance gives away what is truly on the mind and heart. I’m a great expressions watcher. It’s almost like a natural second job to me, but doesn’t pay the bills, (but God) allows me to own that gracious gift. Some of us probably wish that we could walk around with a face eraser to erase most of the expressions that show. Not happening! even with a mask on.  The eyes can still be read along with body positioning.
How many times folks have we done something half-heartedly? How many times have we been shamed because we saw others giving someone else a gift, and we didn’t give…. then run out to buy a gift because you saw someone else give?

Besides, we are told in Ephesians 5:11- Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
So back to Cain’s countenance we go. The lessons I learned from verses 6-7 are:
1. Doing right in the eyes of God is acceptable and that we should give to God from the heart.
2. Doing wrong in the eyes of God is not acceptable and has consequences. (Have you ever watched the Truth or Consequences game show? For those who are younger than I, here’s a tidbit about the show- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth_or_Consequences )
3. Sin is right at your door waiting for the right opening moment to jump in. The longer sin crouches, the more cramps it gets and can’t jump as quickly. This will allow you more time to practice taking control of the “crouching” sin.  🙂
4. Sin’s desire and Satan’s ultimate goal is to rule over the children of God.
5. We as children of God, heirs of His promise, “MUST rule over” sin in order to be in line with His will.
6. Sin is a thing. Don’t let THINGS rule over you that are not good for the Body of Christ.

Visualize This As Being Sin’s Position

Here’s one of my favorite reminders to self when sin tries to rule over me and change my countenance from being joyful in the Lord. I like sharing these verses with people whose countenance becomes downtrodden for whatever reason sometimes unbeknownst to me. It’s a great pick me upper and it pays to remember who you are in Christ.

Ephesians 5:8-10 – For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of the light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.

Sticky Note—When you appear before the Lord while living on this earth, make sure you have your countenance in check. Remember that He is watching us at all times. Henceforth, whatever you do, make sure that it is from the heart, that it is right, and that it is pleasing to God, to recieve His favor.
